Athletistic / Others. The press service of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has reiterated its concern about the health of athletes planning to participate in the 2024 Friendship Games in Russia.
“We have previously expressed concern about Russia’s plan to host the Friendship Games in September 2024. WADA believes that the health and fairness of athletes participating in these competitions could be compromised,” said the WADA press service, cited by the TASS agency.
At the end of October 2023, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) sent letters to all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) asking them to ignore the World Friendship Games in Russia. These competitions will take place from September 15 to 29, 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
Note that earlier the general director of the organizing committee of the Friendship Games, Alexei Sorokin, declared that 30 countries had already confirmed the participation of their athletes in these competitions.
