The Bulls missed the opportunity to virtually guarantee themselves fourth place with one round to go
RB Leipzig played a draw at home with Werder in the match of the 33rd (penultimate) round of the German Bundesliga – 1:1.
The musicians had a good first half and even managed to win it. The goal did not come without outside help: Milos Veljkovic crossed for Niko Voltemade, but Nicholas Seiwald sent the ball into his own net.
Marco Rose’s team improved significantly after the break. She managed to equalize the score at the end of the hour: Mohamed Simakan’s putback was finished off with a powerful shot into the top corner by the running Benyamin Sheshko.
The Bulls sought to snatch a victory that would allow them to 99% secure fourth place from the encroachments of Borussia D, but were unable to do this. Moreover: Werder almost snatched victory in stoppage time, but Peter Gulacsi saved after Jens Stage’s shot.
The aforementioned Borussia could get close to Leipzig today if they beat Mainz. Werder remain in 11th place and retain a theoretical chance of qualifying for the Conference League.
In the last round, Rose’s team will go to Frankfurt, and the Bremen team will take on the already saved Bochum.
