For more than a year, the ex-player of Shakhtar and the Ukrainian national team remained without a club
Marlos Romero Bonfimex-footballer Metalist, Shakhtar And Ukrainian national teamretired at the age of 35.
The technical winger started in his native Brazil (Coritiba, Sao Paulo), after which, in transit through the Uruguayan Rentistas, he ended up in Kharkov Metalist in 2012. In the summer of 2014 he moved to Shakhtar, where he stayed for seven and a half years.
As a member of the Miners, Marlos won 12 trophies, including becoming Ukrainian champions four times. In 2017, he received Ukrainian citizenship, after which he played 26 matches for the Ukrainian national team (including Euro 2020), in which he scored one goal and six assists.
At the beginning of 2022, Marlos left Ukraine. For a year he played for Atlético Paranaense, and since the beginning of 2023 he remained without a club.
Recently it became known about the planned participation of a naturalized Ukrainian in the Kings World Cup media tournament as part of the UA Steel team, along with many football stars of past years – UAF President Andrei Shevchenko (one of the team’s founders), Artem Fedetsky, Dario Srna, Edmar, Junior Moraes, Andrey Pyatov, Dmitry Chigrinsky, Evgeniy Konoplyanka and others.
