Terlyuga, Palashevskaya and Fedorov stopped one step from the pedestal
Valery Chebotar And Elina Selemeneva brought two bronze medals to the Ukrainian national team’s treasury European Karate Championship 2024which takes place in the Croatian Zadar.
Chebotar, who competed in the up to 84 kilogram category, started with a defeat, but then won all three repechage matches, including the decisive one against Hasan Arslan from Turkey. Let us remind you that at last year’s World Championships Valery also became a bronze medalist.
Selemeneva competed in the up to 68 kg category. She lost in the semifinals, but then won the bronze bout against Ilma Rahmanovic, a representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Three more representatives of Ukraine were one step away from medals. Anzhelika Terlyuga (up to 55 kg) and Yulia Palashevskaya (up to 50 kg) lost in their semi-finals, and then failed to prevail in the “small finals”. They both ended up finishing in fifth place, as did Yaroslav Fedorov, who competed in the kata section.
The Karate Championship 2024 in Zadar will end on Sunday, May 12. The Ukrainian men’s team will compete with Turkey in the fight for another bronze medal, this time in the team competition.
