Coach of Dnepr-1 – about the defeat from Alexandria
Head coach SK Dnepr-1 Yuri Maksimov commented on the defeat from Alexandria (0:1) in the match of the 28th round Ukrainian Premier League. He noted that the entire team was disappointed with the result of the match.
“Today we tried to keep the ball more and play through a short pass. In the first half we played against the wind, and we had to get out of defense somewhere with long passes, but we played through short passes. That led to the goal we missed.”
“Did the team only hit one shot in the entire match? There are questions here. We’ll sort it all out and train.”
“Is it possible to perform well in European competitions with such a game? I can’t answer that. All the guys are trying, going out to the game to win, but this is football, and here every team can win and lose.”
“I didn’t say anything to the guys after the match. What do you say now? They are all disappointed, just like me, so there is nothing to say.”
After the defeat from Alexandria, Dnepr-1 finally lost its chances for bronze medals in the UPL. Maksimov’s team takes fourth place in the Ukrainian Championship, two points ahead of Rukh.
Dnepr-1 will play its next match at home against champion Shakhtar. The fight will take place on May 19.
