Stevenson – Lomachenko: I respect that you are a legend. But I don’t respect your willingness not to fight me

The American champion continues to challenge Vasily to a fight

WBC lightweight title holder Shakur Stevenson addressed the newly crowned IBF champion Vasily Lomachenko. The American called on the boxer from Ukraine to get into the ring with him and not avoid the fight.

“I respect your boxing style. I respect that you are a legend. What I don’t respect is your willingness to not fight me. People from Ukraine have courage. Don’t hide behind Top Rank because it’s not brave of you,” Shakur wrote.

Previously, promoter Bob Arum spoke about his desire to organize a fight between Lomachenko and Stevenson. The fight will be possible provided that Shakur defeats his closest rival, Artem Harutyunyan. The unification fight could take place in November 2024.

Gervonta Davis also expressed his readiness to fight Lomachenko. “Tank” will defend his WBA title against Frank Martin in his upcoming fight.

On May 12, Lomachenko won the vacant IBF lightweight belt by defeating Australian George Kambosos by TKO in the 11th round. Vasily stated that he plans to take a short rest before returning to the ring.
