Russian figure skater Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva who participates in ice dancing competitions with Egor Bazin, wrote in his column on that the too young age of artists and the absolute reluctance of athletes hinder the development of the popularity of figure skating.
Khudaiberdieva and Bazin are Russian champions in the 2022/23 season. Since March 2023, they have been training in Alexander Zhulin’s group, where they left coach Denis Samokhin. The duo won silver medals at the Russian Championship and the Spartakiad of the Strongest.
“Despite the great popularity of figure skating not only in our country, but throughout the world, the general public has little idea of what we are and what we should eat with. In my opinion, figure skating still does not surpass hockey and football in popularity for several reasons: the too young age of the artists dressed in beautiful short dresses (thus we immediately exclude most of the healthy male audience) and the reluctance absolute athlete,” Khudaiberdieva wrote in a column on the website.
