Gutzeit: We already have 73 licenses for the Olympics, I’m sure that in the end there will be 30-40 percent more

The head of the NOC noted that in some sports Ukraine did not receive a number of tickets

The president National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit spoke about licenses for Olympic Games 2024that Ukraine expects to receive.

“It is difficult to make predictions during the war how many licenses we will have after the competition. Today there are 73 of them. I am sure that there will be 30-40 percent more of them.”

“Tournaments will continue almost until the start of the Games. Don’t forget the conditions under which we compete. Of course, there are difficulties with preparation. At the same time, this is nothing when compared with the conditions under which the Armed Forces protect us at the front. But there are nuances.”

“For example, our synchronized swimmers, Olympic medalists, trained in Kharkov and made it to Paris only as a pair. We all understand that training under Russian shelling is very difficult. Yes, we have a shortage, and we need to talk about this honestly. At the same time, we must understand the circumstances in which we operate. I am sure that there will be more licenses. But now we have what we have.”

“There are questions for the boxing federation, because they have one license, which Alexander Khizhnyak received at the European Games. Licensing competitions in Italy failed. We hope that at the last tournament in Bangkok our athletes will be able to win a license.”

“If you look at the problem systemically, you need them to add in all aspects of the work. I have no doubt about the professionalism of the head coach, because Dmitry Sosnovsky is a great professional who was able to train Olympic champions. The problem is that Kirill Shevchenko resigned as president of the federation. I know that in June there will be an extraordinary conference at which they will elect a new president, probably a new presidium. We hope this will help resolve the situation. It should be remembered that we are a boxing country, and this status must be maintained.”

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11. At the competitions, 329 sets of awards will be awarded in 32 sports.
