Gutzeit: For any performance about the war, Ukraine could be disqualified from the 2024 Olympics

Ukrainian athletes will be required to adhere to the IOC Charter

The president National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit said that Ukrainian athletes will not be able to perform any actions reminiscent of the war in Ukraine during Olympics 2024.

“This was never allowed at the Olympics. There is an IOC Charter, like our Constitution, which is prohibited from being violated. This can be done on our territory. For example, in the Ukrainian House in Paris. There we can remind that Ukraine continues to fight for independence, remind that Russia is killing our people and destroying our infrastructure. Doing this directly during competitions is prohibited.”

“I am sure that we can be disqualified for such attempts. In addition, this does not apply to the individual athlete, but to the entire team. The IOC has reminded many times that it will ensure that there are no provocations. If there is a violation of the Charter, then disqualification cannot be ruled out.”

Earlier, Gutzeit said that Ukraine had already obtained 73 licenses for the 2024 Olympics. The NOC President expects that the final number of trips for Ukrainians will increase by 30-40 percent.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in France from July 26 to August 11. At the competitions, 329 sets of awards will be awarded in 32 sports.
