The famous Ukrainian football player created the kONO.ECF team
Former football player of Dnepr, Shakhtar and the Ukrainian national team Evgeniy Konoplyanka spoke about the creation of his esports organization kONO.ECF and about the team’s goals.
“I’ve been in CS since I was 7 years old. And I know what it’s like, I went through it. I always had this idea in my head that I needed to get to this point. I couldn’t do this before because I was completely in football and couldn’t switch. I like it and that’s the most important thing. It’s like the president of a football or basketball club. In any field, first of all, you must love it and there must be a goal.”
“I talked to Zinchenko, he was the first to know about it. I say, there is such an option, I want to take this team. I wanted to know his opinion.”
“The global goal of the club? Of course, a major, but I don’t want to wait too long for it. The team has time, we have good players, they are able and know how to play. We’ll see after a while, if we don’t play better, we’ll look at people like s1mple. We are waiting for the price to decrease a little. It’s like in football: if you don’t play, the price drops.”
“Our goals, of course, are very high. Why then enter if we don’t set goals and don’t want to win something. I think that in the future there will be many football players who will buy [киберспортивные] teams. We will meet not on the field, but in the hall somewhere at a major.”
Today it became known that the Konoplyanka organization signed the TBA.ECF CS2 roster. The members of kONO.ECF include: Yaroslav “byr9” Buryak, Kirill “s4ltovsk1yy” Litvinov, Artem “kensizor” Kapran, Zakhar “polbandana” Siledchik, Denis “amster” Lyashenko. The team is ranked 86th in the HLTV world rankings.
Konoplyanka has been without a club since January 2024. The Ukrainian left Romanian Cluj, for which he played in four matches this season, spending a total of less than an hour on the field. It was reported that Evgeniy, together with former teammate Roman Zozulya, plans to open an agency company.
