Athletistic / Figure skating. Honorary vice-president of the International Skating Union (ISU), Alexander Lakernik, reacted to Croatia’s decision to refuse to host the European Figure Skating Championships in 2025. He also believes that no one will examine Russia’s bid to host the 2025 European Championship.

“There are some problems with the ice rink in Croatia, but no one will consider Russia’s candidacy in the current situation. My personal opinion is that until the question of the participation of Russian athletes is resolved, there is no point in submitting an application. ” Lakernik said, as quoted by Match TV.

On May 13, the Croatian Figure Skating Federation officially informed the ISU that it would not be able to organize the European Figure Skating Championships in Zagreb in January 2025. Thus, the ISU Council started accepting applications again for the 2025 European Championships. The application deadline is May 24.

Russian figure skaters have been suspended from participating in international competitions since March 2022 due to events in Ukraine.
