Before the start of the Golden Euroleague, the blue-yellows will play one more test match, against the Polish national team
Ukrainian men’s volleyball team played the first test match under the new coach Raule Lozano. The new blue-and-yellows lost to the national team Germany – 1:3.
In this sparring, the Argentine coach, who took over the team in April, had to do without Oleg Plotnitsky, Vasily Tupchiy and several other players who, for various reasons, refused to come to the national team’s location.
Ukraine played with the following starting lineup: Sergei Evstratov, Evgeniy Kisilyuk, Dmitry Yanchuk, Yuri Semenyuk, Maxim Drozd, Dmitry Shapoval, Alexander Boyko. In the first set, the blue-yellows lost with a fight (23:25), in the second they took revenge (25:21). The next two games were left to the Germans. The most productive Ukrainian players were Shapoval and Yanchuk, who scored 13 points each.
The Ukrainian national team continues its training camp in Będzin, Poland, preparing for the 2024 Euroleague Gold. On Thursday, May 16, Lozano’s team will play another sparring match with the Polish national team. In just two days, on May 18, our team will compete with Romania in the first round of the Golden Euroleague.
