Bellingham, Vinicius, Griezmann, Lewandowski and five other players will compete for the prize with the Ukrainian
Attack Gironatop scorer of the Spanish Primera Division Artem Dovbik was one of ten nominees for the award Player of the season 2023/24 in La Liga.
In addition to the Ukrainian, contenders for the award are: Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior (both Real Madrid) Antoine Griezmann (Atlético) Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) Aleisha Garcia (Girona), Isco (Betis), Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad) Alexander Serlot (Villarreal) and Kyrian Rodriguez (Las Palmas).
Dovbik played 37 matches for Girona this season in all competitions, scored 20 goals (all in the championship), and gave 9 assists. The 26-year-old La Liga debutant tops the list of scorers, one goal ahead of Bellingham and Serloth and three ahead of Lewandowski.
The Ukrainian’s productive play helped Girona rise to previously unprecedented heights. The modest Catalan club, which had never previously finished higher than 10th place, secured a spot in the Champions League ahead of schedule. Side by side with Dovbik, another Ukrainian plays for Girona, midfielder Viktor Tsygankov – 32 matches, 6 goals and 5 assists.
The Ukrainian forward was named player of the month in Girona four times this season – in November and December 2023, as well as in January and March 2024. The forward also became the best player in La Liga in December.
Dovbik’s current contract with Girona runs until 2028. The club is actively working on a new agreement for Artem, in which it intends to stipulate a guaranteed buyout amount for the player in the amount of 100 million. At the same time, according to available information, the Ukrainian forward’s clause is currently relatively small and amounts to less than 30 million euros.
It was previously reported that Girona expects many offers for Dovbik in the summer. Among the contenders for the top scorer of Examples (20 goals), among others, were Chelsea, as well as Spanish giants Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
