Svetlana Romashina, Vlada Chigireva, Alexandra Patskevich took part in the directing programs of the Italian team. The Russians, by decision of the International Swimming Federation (FINA), are suspended from competitions of departures under the auspices of this organization until the end of 2022 on the background of the situation with Ukraine.
– When we watched the combined program of the Italians, we immediately determined that the hand of the Russian synchronized swimmers was visible. I know my school a little, I’ve seen it – they’ve beautified it. Well done girls, they don’t hold back that they offended our country and we won’t. There has always been collaboration. Russia has always helped – we don’t use specialists from other countries, we have enough of them, but we are open to helping other countries, everyone knows that. Sport is the world, no one should forget that it is the world, Pokrovskaya told reporters.
– Can you consider the world champions as those who have won titles in the absence of the strongest?
There were competitions, there were winners and losers. You can’t say they aren’t winners. They were happy for them in their own country. It is naturally. Why not. We were happy for the Chinese, for example. They have worked with us for a long time. Some teams went home and the management was happy – they climbed two steps for them. We’ve leveled up! It’s good. It’s great for the development of synchronized swimming in all countries, and it’s up to the coaches to decide how they will earn this place.
