Dolgansky: Lack of concentration in detail

Vorskla coach – about the defeat in the Ukrainian Cup final and tasks for the last rounds of the championship

Acting head coach Vorskla Sergei Dolgansky commented on the defeat from Shakhtar (1:2) in the final Ukrainian Cup.

“We didn’t have results, it put pressure on the players, but there was definitely no psychological crisis. There is responsibility for the result, but there was none. And for games like the Ukrainian Cup final, you don’t even need to prepare the players. People play for this.”

“We lacked concentration in the little things. Everything was decided by game moments. If the score was 0:0, they could have scored a goal, the game could have turned out differently. We also didn’t do enough in the moments when we conceded goals. Now there is no point in analyzing how we played. Is there a result. This is the final.”

“I have great memories associated with Rivne. I started playing football here, took my first steps. When I started my coaching career, I played in the finals here. My emotions went through the roof today.”

“Dmitry Riznyk? Today he was my opponent. After the game we talked with him and Andrey Pyatov. They tried to support me. We have something to talk about, something to remember.”

“There are two games of the Ukrainian championship ahead, we need to solve the problem of maintaining a residence permit in the Premier League. We have certain developments for the future, but first we need to resolve the issue of the present.”

Let us remind you that the final match, which was called the “Match of Gratitude,” took place in Rivne at the Avangard stadium. Vorskla could have opened the scoring in the first half, but Ibrahim Kane did not use the one-on-one opportunity with Riznyk. As a result, Dolgansky’s team conceded twice and could only get one goal back at the end of the match.

Shakhtar won its 14th Ukrainian Cup, beating Dynamo in this indicator and completing the golden double.

Vorskla suffered its sixth defeat in a row. In the UPL, two rounds before the end, Dolgansky’s team is in 11th place with a four-point lead over the transition match zone. On May 19, the Poltava team will host Obolon and end the season with an away match against LNZ.
