Based on the results of the investigation, the disciplinary body did not find sufficient grounds to charge the Ukrainian
Disciplinary Committee French Professional Football League completed an investigation into the Ukrainian midfielder Bordeaux by Daniil Ignatenko.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian was accused by the players Dunkirk by Alioun Ba And Opoi Sangante (team captain) in insults at racially motivated. The disciplinary body, having familiarized itself with the materials of the case, having heard the players and representatives of the club, came to the conclusion that it did not have “evidence to confidently establish the significance of discriminatory actions” attributed to the Ukrainian football player.
Ignatenko himself commented on the situation as follows:
“Yesterday I was found not guilty in this situation, since there were no statements made towards the player accusing me of these loud words. This incident was invented by a player from the opposing team, who tried to provoke me throughout the game, but failed. And after the game he said that I was a racist. Why he did this and invented everything, I don’t understand. The case is closed and I am not guilty.”
The incident took place during the match Bordeaux – Junkerque (2:0) in the 34th round of Ligue 2 on April 23. The mentioned visiting players complained to the referee about the Ukrainian in the 60th minute of the meeting, claiming that Ignatenko insulted Ba on racial grounds. The judge noted this episode and his reaction to it in the protocol, but Ignatenko did not receive any card. In addition, Ba criticized the referee for his inaction after the match.
Bordeaux also reportedly launched an internal investigation. A club spokesman told French media that “everyone in the team knows that he is not a racist.”
In total, this season Ignatenko played 32 matches for the Girondin club, scoring two goals and giving one assist.
Bordeaux is in 13th place in Ligue 2 with one round to go. Today, May 17, Ignatenko’s team will play the last match of the season – at home against Pau.
