Lunin lost the competition to Unai Simon
Ukrainian striker Girona Artem Dovbik became one of 15 laureates included in the final list “Teams of the 2023/24 season” in the Spanish La Liga.
Let us remind you that another Ukrainian, Real Madrid goalkeeper Andrei Lunin, applied for inclusion in this symbolic team, but lost in the voting to Unai Simon, the main goalkeeper of the Spanish national team and Athletic Bilbao.
As a result, a mixed voting system (fans + club captains + expert commission) determined 15 winners from 50 nominees.
Goalkeeper: Unai Simon (Athletic)
Defenders: Daniel Carvajal (Real Madrid), Ronald Araujo (Barcelona), Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid), Miguel Gutierrez (Girona)
Midfielders: Aleix Garcia (Girona), Ilkay Gundogan (Barcelona), Federico Valverde (Real Madrid), Isco (Betis), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)
Wingers/Forwards: Savio (Girona), Antoine Griezmann (Atlético), Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), Artem Dovbik (Girona), Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid)
Note that exactly a third – five players – represent the champion, Real Madrid. Also on the list are four representatives from Girona, three from Barcelona, one each from Atlético Madrid, Athletico and Betis.
In La Liga, two rounds before the finish, Girona is in third place, but in the end it can finish in either second or fourth position. Dovbik continues to fight for the title of top scorer of the championship. He has 20 goals, while Bellingham and Villarreal’s Alexander Serloth have 19 each.
Let us remember that Artem was previously nominated for the title of Player of the Season in La Liga.
