Olympic diving champion Ilya Zakharov talked about his debut on the channel as a commentator.
Zakharov comments on the diving competition during the first stage of the Friendship Games in Kazan.
– This week you debuted on in a new title. Dmitry Guberniev advised to kill the athlete himself. How does all this happen?
– I have not yet fully understood how to extinguish it in me and how it should manifest specifically. But I can definitely say that working on air is a lot harder than it looks from the outside. On the other side of the screen, people sit and criticize: “What is he saying there, is there anything to say? But sometimes there is nothing! I am preparing for the show with Svetlana Borisovna (Moiseeva) about each athlete, collecting information. It’s a big workflow. The work is not easy and a very interesting experience, I will try to develop.
“Your gold medal was a very special event in the aquatic field. Do you regret that it did not have a media effect, that the audience for this event could not be enlarged?
– Yes, but the weather was a little different – then there was no such effect of social networks. It all started in 2013. There were correspondents who were still working on water sports. We gave interviews to the written press, on television and that’s it. And then began the boom of social networks, which help to keep the attention of viewers. If anyone had told me at the time how to use this situation to increase media coverage, I would appreciate it.
