Coach of the Russian national water polo team Markoch spoke about potential opponents for training matches

The head coach of the Russian water polo team, Sergei Markoch, told that negotiations are underway for training matches with several opponents, but it is unlikely that it will be possible to play with the strongest teams during the Olympic season.

According to the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Russian water polo players are deprived of the opportunity to participate in tournaments under the auspices of world and European water sports.

— Now, after the Russian Championship, everyone will prepare for the Cup. And once the Khanty-Mansiysk tournament is over, we won’t waste any time. Our goal is the 2028 Olympic Games. The national team roster has been updated and we will hold four training camps. Two gatherings are planned by the sea, a third in the mountains and a fourth in Moscow. Then we plan an away training camp – we negotiate practice matches, potentially it could be Serbia, South Africa, Turkey. The strongest teams are now busy preparing for the Olympic Games,” Markoch told .
