Former women’s volleyball coach “Locomotive” Radoslav Arsov discussed the reasons for his team’s defeat in the Super League final of the 2023/2024 season.
In the final series of the Russian Championship, the Kaliningrad team lost to Kazan Dynamo-Ak Bars (2-3).
— “Dynamo-Ak Bars” is a tough team. It’s a shame we lost the tiebreaker in the first game. But sometimes in sport things don’t always go the way we want them to. In the fourth game, there were match points. But it turned out that either we were unlucky or we made the wrong decision. It’s still a lack of experience; there are a lot of young people in our team. And afterwards, we had a psychological shock. I saw all the girls’ emotions, how upset and worried they were. Internally, I wanted to believe it and I believed we could. But I also knew that it would be very, very difficult in Kazan.
And we still went there to fight. Here again, youth and experience, which we lack, had an effect. They started making mistakes at times when they shouldn’t have. We had to do our job in the situations that were in our hands. We lost the first match, and that’s it: there was no more strength or emotion. In the decisive match, we did not have any arguments, although the girls did everything possible,” Arsov said according to the Championship.
Bulgarian Arsov left the post of head coach of women’s volleyball club Lokomotiv after the end of the season. He made this decision for family reasons.
