England’s extended squad for Euro 2024: without Henderson and Rashford, but with five newcomers

The list of 33 players includes half a dozen young performers who have never played for the senior team.

Head coach of the national team England Gareth Southgate announced his team’s extended bid ahead of the championship Europe 2024.

The coach called 33 players to the training camp (with a maximum limit of 26), including potential absolute newcomers James Trafford (Burnley), Jarred Branthwaite (Everton), Jarell Quansah and Curtis Jones (both Liverpool), as well as Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace).

At the same time, experienced midfielder Jordan Henderson (vice-captain of the national team), representing Ajax, and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford flew past the application list. Also missing from the squad are several Chelsea players – Ben Chilwell, Levi Colville, Reece James and Raheem Sterling.

Midfielders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Conor Gallagher (Chelsea), Curtis Jones (Liverpool), James Maddison (Tottenham), Kobby Mainu (Manchester United), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Declan Rice (Arsenal) ), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace).

Forwards: Jerrod Bowen (West Ham), Eberechi Eze (Crystal Palace), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Anthony Gordon (Newcastle), Harry Kane (Bayern), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Ivan Tawney (Brentford) ), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

England will play two friendlies at the start of June, on the 3rd against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Newcastle and on the 7th against Iceland at Wembley. Southgate will name his final 26-player squad later that day.

On June 10, the team will fly to Germany, where in the group stage of the 2024 European Championship they will play Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia in succession.
