Rodnina: “I strongly doubt that in the United States Morozov and Eremenko can offer better conditions”

Three-time Olympic champion Irina Rodnina believes that in the United States, figure skaters Annabelle Morozova And Igor Eremenko will not be able to offer better conditions than in Russia.

Previously, the media reported that the dance duo Morozov/Eremenko could join the US national team. Annabelle has Russian, American and French nationality.

– It’s their right, especially if they want to join the American team. Whether I feel sorry or not won’t change the decision. They probably thought long and hard and considered the options. To play for another country you need to have citizenship, and it’s not such a simple matter.

I feel the same way about the fact that athletes choose another nationality as I do about the fact that many Russians go to work and live in other countries. This is not prohibited by law. They don’t violate anything. Freedom of movement and opinion is guaranteed by the Constitution. But I seriously doubt that in the United States Morozov and Eremenko can offer better conditions. They made the decision with their families and their parents and know what they are doing.

I don’t know if Russian figure skating will lose. Last year I didn’t watch any competitions, neither Russian nor international. Therefore, I can’t really assess the skills of this couple,” Rodnina said, as quoted by Sport24.
