The inspiring story of the return of Lunin’s competitor will form the basis of the plot
Goalkeeper Real Madrid and the Belgian national team Thibaut Courtois will be the subject of a new documentary film from Amazon Prime.
The plot of the film will be based on the story of the football player’s recovery after two serious injuries in a row this season.
Let us remember that during the 2023/24 campaign, Thibault received two serious injuries – first in August (ruptured cruciate ligament of the left knee), then in March (torn internal meniscus of the right knee). After each of them, the Belgian needed surgery.
Showing incredible willpower, the 31-year-old goalkeeper managed to recover ahead of schedule and already managed to play three matches in Primera (all to zero), at least in this tournament putting Ukrainian Andrei Lunin on the bench.
It was recently reported that Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti intends to start Courtois in the final match of the Champions League. Club president Florentino Perez also believes that the Blancos squad will be more balanced with Thibaut present. Real Madrid goalkeeping coach Luis Llopis believes the Belgian will play in the Champions League final if he is at his best.
Despite his return to action, Thibault will miss the 2024 European Championships. Back in December, Courtois himself said that he made this decision in order to carry out full training at the Madrid club and get into optimal shape for the 2024/25 season.
At the end of April, the head coach of the Belgian national team, Domenico Tedesco, confirmed that he does not count on an experienced goalkeeper when choosing the squad for the upcoming continental championship, which will be held in June-July on the fields of Germany.
