Chelsea have officially parted ways with Pochettino by mutual consent

Among the Argentine’s likely successors are Michel from Girona, Hoeneß from Stuttgart and Maresca from Leicester

Chelsea officially announced that he is parting ways with his head coach Mauricio Pochettino. The parties came to a decision to terminate the contract by mutual consent.

Along with the Argentine specialist, his assistants Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Tony Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino (Mauricio’s son) will also leave the club.

The club expressed gratitude to the 52-year-old mentor for the work done and wished him success in his future career. In turn, Pochettino himself said:

“Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity to be part of the history of this football club. The club is now well positioned to progress further in the Premier League and Europe in the coming years.”

Among the Argentine’s likely replacements are Sebastian Hoeneß from Stuttgart and Michel from Girona, as well as two coaches who led their teams to the Premier League from the Championship: Kieran McKenna (Ipswich) and Enzo Maresca (Leicester).

Let us remind you that Pochettino took over Chelsea in the summer of 2023. He becomes the Blues’ third head coach under new ownership after Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

The 2023/24 season has been a very difficult one for the Blues. The team always suffered from a preponderance of injuries (this factor is considered one of the indirect reasons for the club’s management’s dissatisfaction with the past season), spent a long time in the middle of the table, but had a strong finish (five wins in a row) and finished sixth in the Premier League.

In addition, Pochettino’s team claimed both cup trophies, but first lost to Liverpool in the League Cup final (0:1), and then lost by the same score to Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.

Ukrainian winger Mikhail Mudrik had an uneven season under the guidance of the Argentine specialist: 41 matches in all tournaments, seven goals and two assists.
