Track and field athlete Alexander Soloviev became the winner of the Russian team championship, winning tournament gold in the pole vault.
The competition takes place in Sochi, Soloviev showed a result of 5.72 meters. Timur Morgunov won silver (5.60), bronze went to Mikhail Shmykov (5.50).
The team from the Krasnodar Territory/Udmurtia Republic won the women’s 4×100 m relay (45.49 seconds). Second place went to the team from the Kursk region (46.42), the team from St. Petersburg took bronze (46.58). In the men’s relay race over the same distance, the best result was achieved by the team from the Krasnodar Territory (40.33). The St. Petersburg team won silver (40.73), the bronze medal was won by the Moscow region team (40.74).
Boris Bezdolny won gold in the javelin throw (79.88 meters), Dmitry Tarabin took second (78.22), Belarusian Alexey Kotkovets showed the third result (76.34). Since Belarusian athletes participate in out-of-competition competitions, Nikolai Orlov (74.38) received bronze from the Czech Republic.
