Gvozdyk: It seems to me that there will be no rematch between Fury and Usyk in October

According to the boxer, Usik should not force the situation

Former world light heavyweight champion Alexander Gvozdyk stated that he is not sure about holding a second fight between the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO/WBC heavyweight champion Alexander Usik and former WBC heavyweight belt holder Tyson Fury.

“It seems to me that this will not happen in October. I don’t want to say one hundred percent, but it seems to me that this will happen in the spring of next year. If it happens, because we know that Fury’s plans change very quickly and radically.”

“I think Joshua is the best option for Fury because I don’t believe he can win a rematch. It seems to me that it will only get worse. I repeat once again: for Fury, Joshua is the best option. But it seems to me that Sasha will not let him do this, he will troll him. If I were him, I would just start trolling him, calling him out, saying: “You wanted to defeat the little rabbit, didn’t you? What happened now? I gave you this opportunity, a second chance. Forward”. This is what I would do. It seems to me that Sasha will do this even more powerfully.”

On the night of May 19, Usik inflicted the first defeat of Fury in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

Usik became the first absolute world heavyweight champion in the era of four belts. In the heavyweight division, the last time Lennox Lewis held absolute status was in 1999, but then three titles were enough for this title.

It was reported that an agreement had been reached between Usyk and Fury for a re-fight. The Chairman of the General Authority of Entertainment of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al al-Sheikh, stated that the rematch between Alexander and Tyson is scheduled for October 12-13 in Riyadh.
