The Finnish Ski Federation may refuse to host the World Championships in 2029 for financial reasons, according to the organization’s website.
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) previously indicated that Finland was the only candidate to host the tournament in 2029.
“I want to emphasize that we are looking at the situation in the long term, we have to make difficult decisions. We will only start submitting an application when we are sure of our own financial stability. “We have the desire to organize a world championship, but not at any price,” declared the president of the federation Sirpa Corcatti.
Russian skiers have not participated in competitions under the auspices of the FIS since 2022 due to the situation in Ukraine.
