President of the All-Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation (VFCG), head coach of the Russian national team Irina Viner-Usmanova is a great specialist, in her talent she is comparable to legendary hockey coaches Anatoly Tarasov and Viktor Tikhonov, said Yevgeny Trefilov who led the Russian women’s handball team.
Viner-Usmanova turns 74 on July 30.
– As you know, Irina Alexandrovna always wears a hat. So I take my hat off to his talent. I wish him to put the men in step, and the girls to continue to infuse beauty into the sport. I have no personal stories with Irina Alexandrovna, but I constantly spied on her training in Novogorsk. They say she can be tough on her students, but that’s inherent in any great coach. I once said to a friend: if it weren’t for the great Tarasovs, Tikhonovs and other God coaches, maybe you would collect bottles. The same can be said about Wiener.
A trainer is, after all, both mom and dad for an athlete. He is nearby when a person’s roof begins to sink either from happiness, or love, or money, or some problem. It is the coach who is responsible for the work he has created, although the end of relations with athletes is not always positive – students leave, forget, lightly send their mentor. God bless Irina Aleksandrovna, I wish her to be as beautiful as she looks now, Trefilov told a correspondent.
