The International Skating Union (ISU) will not accept as a working proposal the idea of Canadian Megan Duhamel to prohibit Russian figure skaters from changing their sports citizenship, believes the Olympic speed skating champion Svetlana Jourova .
Duhamel, commenting on the transfer of Russian Sofia Samodelkina to Kazakhstan, said the ISU should prevent Russians from moving to other countries if they do not train there. According to her, otherwise they “continue to support the state program in Russia.”
– What then should we do with the other transitions? Athletes from other countries also join other teams. What, ban some and not others? This is not a working proposition for ISU,” Zhurova told .
