Gornyakov’s mentor is pleased with the season in which his team won the golden double
Head coach Shakhtar Marino Pusic commented on the final championship match against Polesie (0:2), summed up the season and admitted who he would root for in the Champions League final.
“First I would like to congratulate the opponents because they achieved their goal and deserved to win today. First of all, my congratulations to Polesye for such a game. In general, a very happy coach is sitting in front of you. I’m very pleased with how we performed, what we showed this season. Winning a double is a historical moment, a great performance in Europe is also a historical moment, a victory over Barcelona and so on. As a Shakhtar we can only be proud of what we have achieved. We had a great season – very good football, a clear philosophy and fantastic effort and energy from the players.”

The 2023/24 Champions League final will take place in London on June 1st. If Real beats Borussia (Dortmund), Shakhtar will automatically enter the main draw of the 2024/25 Champions League. Otherwise, the Orange-and-Blacks will have to fight their way through qualification.
