Krivoy Rog finished the season with a victory over Minaj
Head coach Krivbassa Yuri Vernidub pleased with the team’s performance in Ukrainian Premier League in the 2023/24 season.
“We had a very long path to bronze. Yes, we fought for higher places. But, thank God, the team did the incredible. Especially in such a strong championship as, undoubtedly, the UPL. We won bronze in the fight, having such rivals as Dnepr-1, Polesie, Zarya. I’m already silent about Shakhtar and Dynamo. Of course, as they say, appetite comes with eating. That’s why you always want more.”
“We set this bar, so I told the guys that they need to prepare well for the next season. Ahead is the Europa League and powerful rivals. I believe that it is not money that plays on the field, but teams, so everyone has a chance. You can always win against a stronger and richer opponent. We will do everything for a successful performance in European competition.”
“The Ukrainian Championship is already behind us. We secured third place three matches before the end of the season. Therefore, we apologize somewhere to the fans and our defenders at the front that the team lost in the three previous matches. But this happens when there is no motivation.”
“As for the last game, I really liked it. We knew that the opponent was fighting for survival. I asked the guys to play to the maximum, so that everything would be according to the sports principle. And they left no chance for Minai. I am very grateful to everyone for this success that we have achieved together.”

Krivbass defeated Minaj (3:0) in the final round. Vernidub’s team gained a comfortable advantage in the first half: Andrey Ponedelnik and Denis Kuzyk scored. And after the break, Oleg Kozhushko made the score devastating.
Krivbass took third place in the Ukrainian Championship, gaining 57 points. Next season the Krivoy Rog team will play in the Europa League qualifications.
