Sport Arena, together with the PFL, is naming the hero of the next round in the First League. In the 10th round of the second stage, it was Ingulets midfielder Sergei Panasenko, who scored the championship goal for Carpathians at the very end of the final match of the season
There are such interesting things in football: until the last minutes of the final round of the season, Karpaty held a 1-point advantage over Inhulets, were in the lead and were heading towards the gold medals. But in the 90+2 minutes the guests lost the fight to Rezepov, then Malysh found a way out of the stalemate by shooting through himself while falling towards Panasenko, and there Sergei scored the ball for the first time in the championship. And which! Gold right away!
That’s how, after playing 9 games without scoring, fighting for every minute of the game in heavy competition, Panasenko brought the championship title to the team he returned to after playing in the Premier League with a precise shot.

The best player of the tenth round in the First League, Sergei Panasenko, shared with Sport Arena his impressions of the golden match with the Carpathians, recalled his first steps in football and the emotional performance of the anthem. Let us remind you that Sergei scored a championship goal against the Lviv team.
– How pleasant is it for you to be recognized as the best player of the tour in the First League by Sport Arena and the PFL?
– Of course, this award is important for me. It’s always nice to receive recognition from reputable experts, but the team’s results come first for me.
– Before the match with Karpaty, you were only satisfied with victory. What did the coaching staff tell you? What was the main focus?
– We have a very strong coaching staff, who found the right words for the team. “They don’t play the final, but they win,” that’s what the coaches told us. We weren’t afraid to lose, but we were afraid not to win 🙂 We knew that Karpaty would play for a draw, so we had to constantly impose our attacking style.
– Can we say that psychologically Ingulets became stronger during the spring part of the season? You haven’t lost six rounds in a row. Perhaps this gave additional confidence?
– I can’t say that only in the spring we played solidly and confidently. Throughout the season, Ingulets was the strongest team in the First League and deservedly won the championship. Of course, victories always provide additional motivation. Psychological confidence is very important for an athlete.
– Already in the opening of the confrontation, Sitalo opened the scoring. What was it like watching this match from the bench? It must have been even more exciting?
– Indeed, after this goal, the players of our team began to make decisions more freely and were not afraid to take the initiative. However, they understood that the whole struggle was still ahead. It was difficult to watch the game from the bench. I wanted to go out and help my teammates.
– In the middle of the half, the Lviv team equalized the score. What changes did the coaching staff make during the break?
– We conceded a meaningless goal due to our own mistakes. We understood that we should continue to play our football and then everything would be fine. No changes were made at half-time.
– How difficult was it for you to enter this game in the 71st minute? What did Vladislav Lupashko tell you?
– The coach wished me luck and said that I needed to “close” this game. I came on and scored the winning goal in stoppage time. Happy that I helped the team win the First League.
– In the 90+2 minute you scored the golden goal for Ingulets. Remember your emotions?
“I experienced incredible emotions, especially when the whole team ran onto the field. We love football for such emotions. I can compare these emotions to the birth of a child.
– How would you personally evaluate the spring part of the season, if you do not take into account this goal against the Carpathians? Perhaps you still expected more?
– I expected more, but the back injury made itself felt. It was not easy for me to return to the team after a break. Moreover, there was little time left before the end of the season. I will try to play better next season.
– How has the First League changed compared to the times when you played? Is it a competitive division now?
– Previously, older players played in the First League, who achieved results through experience and class. Now young people have a chance to prove themselves and most of the guys have already declared themselves. The First League does not have the same finances that it had before.
– Which team before Ingulets managed to reveal their potential the most? What club do you not want to remember?
– I don’t want to single out any specific club, because in each I gained invaluable experience that helped me throughout my career.
– Sport Arena reminds you: you already played in Ingulets in 2016. Has the club progressed since then? What changes are most significant?
– Of course, the club is progressing every year. There have been important and significant changes in infrastructure, there are more fields. The club’s management does not stop there.
– What is the most memorable match for you now?
– I had many memorable matches in my career. However, if I evaluate emotions, then first of all I will note the game with the Carpathians. This is unforgettable!
– Do you remember your first steps in football? Who was your first coach?
– I started playing football at the Dnieper Inter school. This is probably why I looked like Lautaro Martinez in appearance 🙂 My first coach was Gennady Grigorievich Shur. I would also like to mention Oleg Grigorievich Cherevko. They instilled in me many valuable qualities that help me in and outside of football. The main thing is to always be human first.
– Which of your peers became big stars? We are talking about those football players with whom we had to play…
— First of all, I would like to mention goalkeeper Alexei Shevchenko, who is also my godfather.
– You were remembered for your emotional performance of the anthem. Tell us something about this.
– I always sang loudly. This was still in the First League with Veres. When we reached the UPL, we played Shakhtar, and it was in this match that the camera caught my emotional performance of the anthem. And after that everyone started focusing on this. I sing my national anthem in a way that helps me get into the game even more. Then, for certain reasons, I stopped doing it…
– What, in your opinion, is the secret of Vladislav Lupashko’s success?
– This is a new school of Ukrainian coaches who want to constantly develop. Vladislav Lupashko works hard on himself. It’s great that he adheres to modern trends in football. I’m happy to play under his leadership.
