Today England for the first time in history became the champion of Europe among women
final match between England and Germany became most attended match in the history of the final parts European championships.
Today’s meeting at Wembley gathered 87,192 fans. This is a European Championship record – both among women’s and among men’s tournaments.
In the final match, England defeated Germany 2-1 after extra time. The winning goal in the 111th minute was held by Chloe Kelly. The triumph of English players at the European Championship was the first in history for this country.
Recall that the final match between England and Germany was officiated by Ukrainian referee Ekaterina Monzul. With her in the team of referees, another Ukrainian woman worked as a linesman – Marina Streletskaya. In total, at the women’s EURO 2022, Monzul and Streletskaya adjudicated four games.
