The defender focused on the symbiosis of youth and experience in the blue-yellow team
National team central defender Ukraine Valery Bondar before the start of the national team’s training camp, he shared his opinion about the favorites of the upcoming Euro 2024.
“If we compare, we also have a generational change – there are a lot of young football players with great potential. I think that our team has great potential, we will show it and try to improve our game. We all understand how difficult the situation is in our country, that we need to show will and thirst for victory. And that we really need it more than the teams we’ll play against.”
“I don’t want to say a lot of words, headlines, so that later they won’t say that they somehow performed poorly. I think that the team will demonstrate character and a very strong thirst for victory, because all of us who will go there understand what the situation is: we want to demonstrate football that, first of all, our fans will like. And it will please our fans and the guys who defend our country.”
“Who is the Euro favorite? France, probably. Germany because they are the host, even though they don’t have a very good series of matches, but they are always the host of the Euro [фаворит] – We understand perfectly well who we are talking about. And England. These are three such tops that will qualify for the Cup. But let’s not write off the Ukrainian national team either.”
“The advantages of our team? An ambitious team, there are many young guys, but there are also many who will give advice. Such a fusion of youth and experience: it’s very good to have him on the field. I think this team can achieve great results.”
The Ukrainian national football team will begin preparations for the 2024 European Championship on May 30 in Nuremberg. On June 12, our national team will move west to Wiesbaden, the base city of the blue-yellows during the continental championship.
