The Frenchman is looking forward to the fight on August 17
Frenchman Christian Mbilli (27-0, 22 KOs) commented on the upcoming fight with the Ukrainian super middleweight boxer Sergei Derevyanchenko (15-5, 10 KOs).
“It’s a great honor for me to fight Sergey Derevyanchenko. I’ve been hearing about him since I was 16 years old. He beat several Frenchmen in the amateurs. As a professional, he only fought big names. So definitely this is my biggest fight to date.”
The 10-round fight will take place on Saturday, August 17, in Quebec (Canada). The event will be hosted by the Videotron Center arena. Earlier, in May, it became known that the Ukrainian and French sides had entered into a deal for this fight.
Mbilli, 29, is a Frenchman of Cameroonian origin. On the night of May 26, he defeated Briton Mark Heffron by technical knockout in the first round. The victory marked Christian’s seventh defense of the WBC Continental Americas super middleweight title.
In April in New York, Derevyanchenko confidently defeated American Vaughn Alexander on points. Previously, Sergei lost to Mexican Jaime Munguia by decision. Sergei said at the end of last year that he plans to compete in the professional arena for about two more years, and his main goal remains winning the title.
