Kobin left Metalist, where he served as sports director

Minaya’s ex-coach worked in this position for two years

Metalhead officially announced that Vasily Kobin leaves the position of sports director.

The contract between the Kharkiv club and the specialist expires at the end of the 2023/24 season. The parties mutually agreed not to renew the relationship.

39-year-old Kobin, when he was a player, played for Shakhtar and a number of other Ukrainian clubs (including Metalist), as well as Belarusian Shakhtar, Kazakh Tobol and the Ukrainian national team. He completed his career in 2019, worked as Minaya’s head coach, and in the summer of 2022 he was officially appointed to the position of Metalist’s sports director.

The Kharkov club left the UPL at the end of the 2022/23 season. Last summer it was reported that the club could say goodbye to Kobin, who was involved in recruiting the team and organizational issues.

In Group A of the First League, Metalist took ninth (penultimate) place. In the Knockout Group (second half of the 2023/24 season), Andrei Anishchenko’s team performed successfully, gaining 16 points in 10 matches and avoiding relegation to the Second League.
