Bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, won by a Russian weightlifter Ruslan Albegov will be given to the representative of South Korea, Chung Sang-kyun, reports the press service of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The ceremony to award the Olympic medals redistributed to Chung Sang-kyun and nine other athletes will take place on August 9 in Paris at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.
At the 2012 Olympic Games, Albegov won bronze in the weight category over 105 kg, the South Korean weightlifter took fourth place.
In 2020, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) disqualified several Russians for violating anti-doping rules. The corresponding decision was made based on data from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory.
The IOC press release does not specify whether Albegov will be deprived of other medals won at international tournaments.
Albegov, 36, is a two-time world champion and two-time European weightlifting champion in the weight category above 105 kg.
