Sergey is the record holder of the Ukrainian championships in the number of matches, seasons, points scored, assists and championship titles
Attack Sokola Sergei Babinets ended his hockey career. The cause was a knee injury received by the 36-year-old player in the second match of the final series Favbet-league-2023/24 against Kremenchug (6:5) and the operation that followed.
It is reported that Babinets will now be engaged in functional activities in Ukrainian Hockey Federation.
Sergey is the author of various Ukrainian championship records. He became the national champion ten times, played a unique 463 matches over 17 seasons, and is the historical leader in both assists (325) and the goal + pass system (553). Vitaliy Lyalka from Kremenchug recently surpassed Babinets only in terms of the number of goals scored – 231 versus 228.
As part of Sokol, Babinets became the champion of Ukraine 2024. He scored 27 points (12+15) in the regular season, after which he scored one goal (in the first final match) and one assist in the playoffs.
