President of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation (FSGR) Vasily Titov is registered as a candidate for the executive committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), according to the FIG website.
Titov is also running for a seat on the organization’s board of directors. The current head of the federation, the Japanese Morinari Watanabe, and the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, President of the European Gymnastics Union Farid Gaibov, are vying for the post of President of the FIG.
In addition, Russians Dmitry Andreev, Lyubov Andrianova, Irina Nikitina, Vladislav Oskner and Nikolai Makarov will be elected to the FIG technical committees.
Elections to the FIG governing bodies will take place on October 25, 2024 during the organization’s congress in Qatar.
Previously, the FIG presented the criteria for admitting Russian athletes to international competitions. Among other things, athletes must not have ties to the military or law enforcement, must not support the SVO and, if admitted to international competitions, participate in starts in neutral status.
