Quadruple world champion in synchronized swimming Alexander Maltsev said that in the song’s new freebie, Queen attempted to move away from the image of the title character “Highlander”, although it was originally written specifically for this film.
Maltsev with the production of Who Wants to Live Forever won with a score of 96.4667 points in the first stage of the Friendship Games in the free program. Artur Korshunov (87.8000) is in second place. Third – Serbian Ivan Martinovich (77.7667).
– In general, we are very satisfied. This program has been prepared specifically for the Friendship Games. The song Who Wants to Live Forever was originally written for the movie “Highlander”, and then already existed as a single. We just started from the clip where Freddie Mercury was playing with a symphony orchestra, with a choir. Lots of candles, everything was so grand. The program is about the eternal – in the broadest sense of the word, – said Maltsev “”.
How long have you been working on this solo?
– We started taking a month, maybe a little more. The production had time once a week. For a total of five to seven days, it turns out to be delivered.
– Solo rules will change soon. Should I shorten the program?
We have already tried to take this into account. Initially, it was even longer. I don’t know if we’re going to cut or not, or risk points so as not to sacrifice the image.
Are you Duncan Macleod from Men’s Synchronized Swimming?
– We did not become attached to this film and this image, we tried to get away from it.
– And figuratively?
– Probably (laughs).
