Kostomarov answered the question of what he plans to do in the future

Olympic ice dancing champion Roman Kostomarov talked about plans for the future.

In January 2023, Kostomarov was hospitalized with pneumonia. Due to complications, both feet and both hands were amputated. The figure skater has returned to the ice, performing in shows using prosthetics.

“I just don’t want to force the situation at all.” We discussed this at home with Oksana, and she told me: “Don’t rush anywhere. Enjoy today, enjoy life, watch your children grow. And you know, it works. I worked – I feel satisfied after training. That is to say, a kind of inner peace comes to me. But when I start to think about something big, to make plans in my head, this immediately arouses an inner protest: in my sporting life, haven’t I practiced enough, worked hard, gone towards something, achieved this objective? I honestly admit to you that I never dreamed of continuing to torture myself after finishing my career. And even more so now.

Of course, the proposals are diverse. I got into politics, helped people like me, dealt with organizational and everyday problems, and eventually founded my own foundation. Maybe after a while I’ll implement some of it. But now I’m just not ready,” Kostomarov said, as quoted by RT.

Kostomarov, together with Tatyana Navka, won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, also became world champion twice and won the European Championships three times.
