The Spanish official will work together with Castro and Ronaldo

Al Nasr officially announced the appointment Fernando Hierro to the post of sporting director of a club from Saudi Arabia. The details of the agreement with the 56-year-old Spaniard have not been specified.

In May 2024, Hierro left Deportivo Guadalajara, where he had worked as sporting director since October 2022. Previously, Fernando was a functionary in the youth and main teams of Spain, as well as Malaga.

In addition, Hierro was Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at Real Madrid in the 2014/15 season, and led Real Oviedo and the Spanish national team at the 2018 World Cup.

Hierro is known for his performances for Real Madrid, with whom he became the champion of Spain five times and won the Champions League three times. He also played for Bolton, Valladolid and Qatar’s Al-Rayyan during his career.

In the 2023/24 season, Al-Nasr finished second in the Saudi Arabian Championship. The team of Luis Castro and forward Cristiano Ronaldo are 14 points behind the Al-Hilal champions.
