Palkin: What the coaching staff wants to build, it turns out – the picture of the game is already visible, the coach’s idea is visible

Shakhtar completed the first training camp this offseason

Shakhtar CEO Sergey Palkin shared his impressions of the team’s work under the new head coach Igor Jovicevich and commented on the team’s last sparring with Utrecht (2:2).

“What the coaching staff wants to build, it turns out – the picture of the game is already visible, the coach’s idea is visible, what he wants to instill in the team. The training camp continues, there is still time, and step by step, I think we will polish out those inaccuracies that appear on the field.”

“It is difficult for the new coaching staff, because the team is also new, he only trains it for 15 days. There is a lot of work ahead, but, I repeat, the picture and the idea that he wants to implement on the football field are already noticeable. If we talk about the game, then in the first half the guys were a little tired, they didn’t completely move away from Ajax, a lot of mistakes were made. I liked the second half: there was more discipline, it turned out better. Again, long training camps have an effect, the guys get tired, but with all this, you can see the idea and the coaching idea that the mentor wants to instill in the team.”

“Each coaching staff brings something new, there is no such thing that everything is copied. There are a lot of things that didn’t exist before. The main thing is that it gives results. The question here is not innovation, but the quality of what we will see on the field.”

Previously, Jovicevich commented on the outcome of the control match with Utrecht.

The Pitmen completed the first training camp this off-season with the game against Utrecht. In the Netherlands, Shakhtar drew with Fortuna (3:3) and lost to Ajax (1:3).

Shakhtar ended the season in first place and advanced to the Champions League group stage. In the UPL 2022/23, the team of Igor Jovicevich should start on August 23.
