Three-time Olympic figure skating champion, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina commented on the news that the International Skating Union (ISU) is not considering allowing Russian athletes to compete in the 2024/25 season.
International competitions in figure skating, speed skating and short track speed skating are held under the auspices of the ISU. The suspension of Russian athletes lasts from spring 2022.
— Our season ends in December 2024. This means that this year they will not be allowed to participate in international competitions. What do you think of this decision?! No one can have a normal reaction to this. When such punishment serves no purpose… What kind of reaction can there be?! Naturally, negative,” Rodnina said, as quoted by Sport24.
