Cyclist Yaroslav Prosandeev became the Russian record holder in the 3-kilometer individual pursuit race among juniors, the press service of the Russian Cycling Federation reports.
The feat was established on Wednesday at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix, where the 17-year-old covered the distance in 3 minutes 9.497 seconds in the qualifying race.
The previous record belonged to Vladimir Goncharov, who covered the same distance in 3 minutes and 10.819 seconds in June 2023.
In April, Prosandeev received neutral status from the International Cycling Union (UCI), necessary to participate in the largest competitions under the auspices of the UCI – the European and World Championships and the Nations Cup.
