A date has been set for the awards ceremony for American and Japanese figure skaters following their performance at the team tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, journalist Christine Brennan reports on social media.
They are expected to receive their gold and silver medals at a ceremony on August 7 during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
The Russian team won the team tournament at the 2022 Games, the Americans finished second and the Japanese team came third.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) disqualified the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva four years for anti-doping rule violations. The Russian’s suspension period begins on December 25, 2021 and her results have been canceled since that date.
There was no award ceremony for the medalists in the team competition. The International Skating Union (ISU) deprived the Russian team of gold in the team tournament due to Valieva’s disqualification. Gold medals were awarded to the American team and silver medals to the Japanese team. Russia falls to third place.
On February 29, the Swiss Federal Court registered an appeal against the CAS decision in the Valieva case.
