“Paris authorities immediately said they would prefer Russian athletes not to come to the Olympics. This is not because security is dangerous there, but simply because of possible conflicts between supporters. However, this does not apply to the athletes themselves; they will be safe. They will be transported by bus and I don’t think they will walk the streets often,” Zhurova commented in an interview with SE.
The IOC press service announced on June 7 that the Paris administration would be responsible for the safety of Russian athletes at the Olympic Games.
