The International Handball Federation (IHF) is counting on a very rapid restoration of relations with Russian colleagues, said the boss of the organization, Hassan Mustafa.
Russian Handball Federation (FGR) on its official website published Hassan’s letter to Sergei Shishkarev (head of the FGR), who had previously congratulated Hassan on his birthday.
— Dear President, dear friend. It was with great pleasure that I received your congratulations on the occasion of my birthday. Your sincere wishes made the holiday even more special, I am happy to feel the support from you and the whole handball family.
I hope that the current situation will improve soon through our efforts to build a better and more peaceful future through sport. With the belief that the handball community will become united again, I wish you, your federation and the entire handball family in Russia health and safety,” Hassan wrote.
In March, the IHF and the European Handball Federation (EHF) suspended Russian and Belarusian teams from international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
