The blue-yellows lost to Poland 1:3, and the final match before the Euro will play with Moldova in Chisinau on June 11
Defender Ukrainian national team Valeriy Bondar commented on the defeat from Poland in the test match on June 7.
“The team lost, and we played poorly on set pieces. At the moment of the missed goal, I probably disoriented Buschan. I had to not go for this ball or finish the game. We conceded three goals due to mistakes. Then we pulled one back, but in the second half we couldn’t score.”
“Poland knows how to defend well and they held this result. It’s better that we lose in a friendly match, and in the group we win all the matches and reach the playoffs.”
Let us remind you that in an away friendly match, Ukraine lost to Poland 1:3, conceding all three goals in the first half hour. Before the break, the blue-and-yellows, thanks to the efforts of Artem Dovbik, scored one goal, but that was all.
Earlier, Sergei Rebrov’s team ended in a draw with Germany (0:0). The blue-yellows will hold the final sparring in Chisinau with Moldova. The fight is scheduled for June 11.
On June 12, the Ukrainian team will move to Wiesbaden, its base city during the continental championship. At the group stage of the 2024 European Championship, the blue-yellows will play against the national teams of Romania (June 17), Slovakia (June 21) and Belgium (June 26). The matches will take place in Munich, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, respectively.
