Moldova national team coach: Ukraine will not allow us to have much possession of the ball. We need to be prepared to look for quick attacks

The blue-yellows’ sparring with the Moldavian national team will take place on June 11

Head coach Moldova national team Sergei Kleshchenko shared his expectations from the upcoming test match with Ukraine. He noted that Sergei Rebrov’s team includes many players from strong European championships.

“It’s no secret that the offensive line is the strongest in the Ukrainian national team. Moreover, the five attacking players have more or less equivalent replacements. If I start naming names, my head will just spin. After all, all these names are quite well-known and loud. We see these players every week in very strong championships. The game will show how we defend ourselves. We will tell the guys what we want to see.”

“However, even when we have to defend most of the match, we are still focused on attacking. I think that Ukraine will not allow us to have much possession of the ball. We need to be ready to win the ball and look for quick attacks. Or to looking for the ball and saving it for a certain respite. Be that as it may, we always strive to get to the opponent’s goal as quickly as possible.”

The sparring between Ukraine and Moldova will take place in Chisinau on June 11. Starts at 19:00. This will be the last test match of Rebrov’s team during preparation for Euro 2024. Earlier in Nuremberg, the blue-yellows tied with Germany (0:0), and in Warsaw they lost to Poland (1:3).

On June 12, the Ukrainian team will move to Wiesbaden, its base city during the continental championship. At the group stage of the 2024 European Championship, the blue-yellows will play against the national teams of Romania (June 17), Slovakia (June 21) and Belgium (June 26). The matches will take place in Munich, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, respectively.
